A New Phase
A New Phase
Commencing a new chapter for Phase Design, we are pleased to announce the launch of our new website, and refreshed identity design by Studio Mast, produced by The Culture Creative. With roots dating back to 2000 in Los Angeles, our updated presence brings Phase closer to our studio’s original intention of celebrating L.A.’s unique spirit of experimentation, artistry, and craftsmanship, to speak to our evolution and contribution to independent American craft over the last two decades. Under the vision of Phase Design Founder and Creative Director Reza Feiz, the studio is fueled by the same inventive spirit that lured the modernists to Southern California —Neutra, Eames, Lautner, Koenig. The structures and spaces they envisioned promoted a new way of life, one that was simple yet experimental, elegant yet bold. For our website, we collaborated with Howells Studio to create a beautiful, functional site. One that showcases the work in a striking manner while allowing designers and clients to find the products they are looking for quickly.

Originality Deconstructed
Originality Deconstructed
Phase Design is honored to have our Bride’s Veil Low Stool included in Be Original Americas: Originality Deconstructed curated by Adrian Madlener. Be Original Americas: Originality Deconstructed exhibition celebrates creativity by pulling back the curtain on the “how” and “why” of some of the international design industry’s most iconic products, demystifying what goes into their conception. Commemorating Be Original Americas’ 10th anniversary and held during Modernism Week 2023, the showcase incorporates physical designs, disassembled elements, raw materials, and videos by Be Original Americas members Anglepoise, Bernhardt Design, Carl Hansen & Søn, Herman Miller, Fritz Hansen, Georg Jensen, Menu, Ligne Roset, Lumens, and Phase Design. Presented at the Ace Hotel Palm Springs along with iconic pieces such as the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, our Brides Veil Low Stool was deconstructed to display the components that come together to form the versatile sculptural stool. With a unique formal vocabulary, Phase Design’s Bride’s Veil Low Stool serves as an alternative to the archetypal stool. As revealed in the exhibition, nineteen solid half-inch thick round steel bars fan out and are welded to a central bent steel frame. A radiused upholstered seat rests atop the base that is affixed by six round bars that stretch across the frame. The low stool design is produced with precision by Los Angeles craftspeople deliberately using simple, readily available materials. When put together, the elements take on unique visual qualities.
